'I was fired', prominent USA prosecutor in standoff with Trump

"You've been lazy", he barked at another, "you've been nothing but trouble".

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara fired after refusing Justice Department request to quit. Reuters noted it is "routine" for new administrations to choose their own federal prosecutors, as they are political appointees.

Gingrich said asking the attorneys to resign continues the process of "draining the swamp". In 1993, Bill Clinton fired them all in one day.

Among the 18 was Preet Bharara, who prosecuted a Russian arms dealer. The move was a surprise because Bharara told reporters in November that Trump had asked him to remain in the job. "I agreed to stay on".

On Friday afternoon, however, Trump reversed course and asked for Bharara's resignation.

Sara Connor jailed for four years over fatal assault on Bali policeman
They also submitted that the charge involved group violence and they had shown she was part of the group which killed the officer. During the trial, his girlfriend, Sara Connor , who faced the same charge, said she wasn't an active participant in the attack.

Trump himself did apparently make an attempt to speak with Bharara in advance of the Friday demand for resignations.

As the story developed, some conservative publications focused on the role of now-former USA attorney Preet Bharara-who initially declined to resign and was subsequently fired. "Being the US Attorney in SDNY will forever be the greatest honour of my professional life", Bharara tweeted, making a reference to his jurisdiction of Southern District of NY.

After of a week of the liberal media claiming President Donald Trump was being misled by conservative media, ABC's David Wright continued the charge by insinuating the President was listening to Fox News for governing advice. There seem to be three possibilities, none of them offering encouraging signs about the Trump administration. On March 9th, Fox's Sean Hannity said holdover lawyers from the Obama era may be "saboteurs" who are leaking damaging information about the administration.

In the excellent Paul Newman legal thriller, Absence of Malice, Wilford Brimley faced a misbehaving Justice Department prosecutor who refused to resign. Two days later, Mr Trump did just that. Among other things, the network allegedly hid financial statements related to sexual harassment settlements. However, he argued it did not matter what Trump told him then, as attorneys general have often turned over federal prosecutor positions in new administrations. Chuck Schumer. Bharara was Schumer's chief counsel and staff director at the time. The 41-year-old attorney went forward with the investigation.

Mr Bharara has been described as one of "the nation's most aggressive and outspoken prosecutors of public corruption", fêted on the cover of Time magazine under the legend "This man is busting Wall St.", and praised for securing the longest-ever sentence for insider trading while shutting down multi-billion dollar hedge funds. Key positions in the U.S. State Department and the Defense Department however remain vacant for a short period.

The response came in response to a volley of questions in the context of the Uttar Pradesh chief minister's comments on Thursday. India News-MRC survey highlights that the BJP will secure 188 seats, while SP-Congress alliance will get 120.

Bharara's refusal to resign wasn't about the assertion of any sort of constitutional principle, or rule-of-law value.

The NYT report added that Bharara had conferred with his deputy about whether it would be appropriate to return the call.

Anyway, it's possible this is all a huge, insane coincidence, and there's nothing insidious about Bharara's firing and potential replacement by a Fox News ally.

Last week Mr Bharara was asked to look into foreign payments received by Mr Trump in an open letter signed by campaign groups such as Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.
