A major snowstorm is brewing in New England just in time for April Fools Day. And it's no laughing matter for the region's winter-weary residents

"This is Mother Nature's idea of an April Fools' joke", said meteorologist Eric Schwibs of the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine.

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories were issued for parts of New England, upstate NY and northeast Pennsylvania.

After a whirlwind of a Saturday, with snow, sleet and rain, residents in southern New Hampshire, Maine and areas north of Route 2 in MA will be greeted with flawless melting weather with peeks of sun and highs into the mid to upper 40s.

While it might be disheartening to see snow so late in the season, it's not unusual.

In April, Springsteen and the band canceled their show in Greensboro because of HB2, which Van Zandt described as an "evil virus". It now moves on to the Senate floor, where it must survive two additional votes before moving to the House for a final vote.

Lustgarten said New England residents have to stay on their toes, given the region's weather. The team will have to scramble to have the field ready for opening day on April 6, he said.

There were also minor outages in Burlington and Burlington Electric Department said power was restored by Saturday afternoon.

The April Fools' Day snowstorm that hit parts of northern New England is winding down, but it's not keeping everyone from enjoying the joke.

The National Weather Service is forecasting that Boston could receive between two and three inches, while other parts of the state north and west of the city could see greater accumulations. A flood warning was in effect for several MA counties after many areas received up to 2 inches of rain.

Just after noon New Hampshire's Unitil utility reported a handful of its customers were without power, down from a peak of about 7,000 early Saturday.
