College student dies after choking during pancake eating contest

Caitlin Nelson, 20, died three days after she collapsed during the event in Fairfield, Connecticut. Police said that Nelson had several food allergies and was choking during the pancake eating contest.

The daughter of a policeman who died in 9/11 has died after choking during a pancake-eating contest. Brooks says he recognizes the importance of this generous contribution from Nelson.

The pancake-eating contest occurred on Thursday evening.

When she started chocking, two nearby nursing students immediately began life-saving measures before being joined by paramedics and police.

Officers from the Fairfield City Police Service quickly arrived at the scene and attempted to help the young woman with no results.

Local authorities told reporters that nursing students attending the event performed lifesaving procedures on Nelson before being transported to the nearest hospital. He also went into the smoking World Trade Center to help rescue workers during the 1993 bombing, despite having asthma, according to the Daily Mail.

The New Jersey native, who majored in social work, was a member of Kappa Delta sorority.

"Learning the tragedy that touched this family already", McNamara told the Post, "our officers are certainly affected by this".
