The shooting happened about 1 p.m.at the upscale mall, the Shops at Merrick Park.
A witness said there was panic inside the gym. Police have not released the names of the shooter and victims. The wounded "included the general manager, who is listed on the fitness center's website as Jeanine Ackerman and a trainer", the Herald added. Employees of other stores and restaurants were seen leaving about an hour after the shooting, once the scene was secure.
Police told CBS Miami that the shooting was a result of an argument between a disgruntled ex-employee and the gym's manager.
