What you need to know about Susan Rice and the unmasking controversy

President Trump says that President Obama's national security adviser Susan Rice may have committed a crime by unmasking names of Trump associates in us intelligence reports collected by intelligence agencies.

"I think it's going to be the biggest story", Trump told the New York Times in an interview at the White House.

Unmasking is a term used by the intelligence community to describe the process of unveiling the identity of a US person who appears in a classified foreign intelligence report.

In January, the Justice Department and intelligence officials agreed on new rules giving more USA agencies access to raw information picked up overseas by the National Security Agency.

But unless here is an intelligence value to knowing the American's name in the so-called "incidental collection", that name is not revealed in the reports and is instead referred to as "U.S. Person 1", for example.

Trump advisers to meet Tuesday to discuss Paris climate agreement
Some coal companies and Republicans believe Obama's Paris pledge can be substituted with subsidies emissions control technology. Trump can't pull the USA out of the worldwide pact immediately, though he could begin a four-year process of withdrawing.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is calling for former National Security Advisor Susan Rice to "testify under oath" after reports broke indicating that she used her power to spy on President Trump's associates during campaign season.

"I think it's going to be the biggest story", he told the New York Times. "It is such an important story for our country and the world".

In the Access Hollywood tape, Trump said, "I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her", adding that he immediately starts kissing "beautiful" women when he encounters them. Nor would it be unusual for her to request those identities be unmasked. As Andrew McCarthy points out, "the thing to bear in mind is that the White House does not do investigations".

Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House intelligence committee, has called on Nunes to recuse himself from the panel's Russian Federation investigation.

"I think he shouldn't have settled; personally I think he shouldn't have settled", said Mr. Trump.

Appearing on Good Morning America , Johnson said , "in my mind it's singular". "We'll see a lot of her in VIII , which is great ". In June, we'll get to see the origin of Darth Vader's lightsaber in a new, ongoing Darth Vader series.

Conservatives have charged that Rice sought the "unmasking" of Trump associates listed in intelligence reports about intercepted communications with foreigners for political reasons.

"The FBI will continue to work with the congressional oversight committees on their requests", the spokesperson said.

"Normally those names are redacted from summaries of monitored conversations and appear in reports as something like 'U.S. Person One'". In an interview with MSNBC on Tuesday, she refuted the allegation that she has or ever would leak classified information.

Susan Rice continually misled Americans about the 2012 Benghazi attacks that resulted in the deaths of four Americans.

This type of request was not a special practice related to the Trump transition team, though the former official did not dispute the reporting by Bloomberg.
