President Trump talked health care, skills training in Wisconsin

President Donald Trump signed an executive order to increase the number apprenticeship programs Thursday while meeting with several governors at the White House.

Critics have also pointed out that so far, the Trump administration has not committed to spending any more for apprenticeship programs than the $90 million spent by President Barack Obama, and that it is proposing to cut other government labor-market initiatives. The executive order directs the labor department to draft rules which will allow companies, unions, and industry groups to create their own programs.

Trump's proposed budget does not increase funding for apprenticeships over last year's funding, though he has called for an additional $200 million to apprenticeship grants-doubling existing funding-by shifting money from other workforce programs. Although the labor force participation is at Jimmy Carter-era lows, that can change if we equip young Americans with the skills they need to fill high-paying jobs that are now sitting vacant or being filled with imported talent. "So we're empowering these companies, these unions, industry groups, federal agencies to go out and create new apprenticeships for millions of our citizens".

It provided federal funding for new types of apprenticeships and job training where local employers organize with community colleges and job training programs to identify the skills needed for nearby jobs.

And he blamed Republicans for keeping things the way they are - and Democrats for not standing up strongly enough to stop them. On June 14, 66-year-old James Hodgkinson of IL opened fire during a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia.

The executive order is meant to improve industry flexibility and scale up the earn-as-you-learn job training program by allowing companies to tailor the guidelines to their own workforce needs.

A senior White House official told reporters ahead of the signing that the executive order is centered on skill-based, flexible earn-and-learn programs. "We need to make sure the programs under the executive order can be measured for quality", he said.

The round table included students, some of Wisconsin's biggest business leader and officials including the superintendent of the Waukesha School District to discuss the importance of apprenticeship programs.

"America must not only teach, but celebrate the skilled laborers that produce and maintain the world's greatest machines, buildings, products and infrastructure", said President Trump. He used, as an example, the possibility of encouraging more apprenticeship programs to be twinned with people getting college degrees, citing the case of a former student who wanted to be a police officer but got a college degree without being qualified for it.

It did not take long for President Trump to get to business upon his arrival in Milwaukee Tuesday afternoon. In today's rapidly changing economy, it is more important than ever to prepare workers to fill both existing and newly created jobs and to prepare workers for the jobs of the future. The EARNS Act supports pre-apprenticeship programs and new or expanding registered apprenticeship programs that provide national, portable credentials and help secure academic credit for on-the-job learning portions of an apprenticeship.

What is an apprenticeship program?

The U.S. has the unusual combination of a low labor force participation rate, along with an bad lot of unfilled jobs, particularly in skilled trade areas. The disparity in labor skills and demand has weighed heavily on American businesses, who overwhelmingly support the President's program.

"There are now 6 million job openings in the United States - vacant jobs that can be filled", he said.

Originally, Glazer and her co-creator Abbi Jacobson wrote the fourth season thinking the 2016 election would turn out differently. Specifically, one episode involved Glazer's character volunteering to campaign for Clinton.

"We have regulations on top of regulations and in history, no one has gotten rid of as many regulations as the Trump administration", the president said during Thursday's announcement. "Additionally, they provide affordable paths to good jobs and, ultimately, careers", the executive order stated.
