LAKESIDE- Twenty people were hurt after 5 are in critical condition after a deck collapsed during a funeral in Lake County.

The crowd had gathered for the memorial service of William Nickell, a Flathead Valley firefighter who died in April.

Saturday's collapse at the Glacier Presbyterian Camp left two people critically injured as of Sunday, and left many more to wonder whether the 10-foot-high deck buckled from the weight of too many people or if there was another reason it failed.

Emergency crews from Flathead and Lake counties responded to a deck collapse involving dozens of people on Saturday evening south of Lakeside. Dillon says many of her friends and relatives were taken away in ambulances.

According to Lake County Sheriff Don Bell, twenty some people were hurt in the incident, fourteen of those victims had to be taken to local hospitals.

All of the injured had been transported from the scene by 7 p.m., and there were no fatalities, Bell said.

Two KRMC patients remain in critical condition, she said, and one was transferred to a hospital in Seattle.

Authorities initially reported that 25 people were injured.

On its website, Glacier Camp wrote, "This afternoon, we had a major accident at camp".
