Queen's Speech 2017: May promises 'humility'

MPs shout ‘Give us a clue’ as Speaker unable to give date for Queen’s Speech

The State Opening of Parliament should have taken place on Monday, June 19th.

It comes at a time of unprecedented political flux with May yet to secure a deal to prop up her government after a botched snap election left her short of a majority.

What will be different this time and why?

The move to have no State Opening is not an unprecedented occurrence. Ceremonies such as the state opening take weeks of preparation and planning, and it was deemed too hard to prepare for two such events so close together.

It means the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will travel to and from the Palace of Westminster by auto.

Qatar Airways Named World's Top Airline
Al Baker said, after receiving the award for the Doha-based carrier for the fourth year in a row. The airline operates a fleet of 47 on mainly Boeing aircraft.

Leader of the Commons Andrea Leadsom said the next parliamentary session was being doubled in length to two years.

Of 27 Bills and draft bills unveiled in her first Queen's Speech, eight are devoted to the complex process of withdrawal from the EU, including a Repeal Bill to overturn the 1972 Act which took Britain into the European Economic Community and separate Bills on customs, trade, immigration, fisheries, agriculture, nuclear safeguards and the global sanctions regime.

What traditions will stay the same? After the usher knocks three times, the MPs emerge and follow him to the House of Lords.

Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn denounced the speech, arguing that May had delivered a "threadbare" program devoid of new ideas.

Veteran lawmaker Dennis Skinner offered the traditional heckle before the speech, joking that those involved in the ceremony had better hurry so the queen could make the first race.

He said they could not "consummate" the marriage until the deal was official, and that it was "not a Tinder relationship". "You can order them and pick them up right at whole foods in Amazon locker", says supermarket expert Phil Lempert.

The final words, "other measures will be laid before you", give the Government flexibility to introduce other legislation as necessary.

Before the Queen leaves for the Houses of Parliament, a member of parliament is taken hostage and is locked away in Buckingham Palace.

In past years, MPs have voted to rumberstamp the Queen's Speech on the sixth and final day of the Queen's Speech debate.

In fact, the party may be some days from that.

According to reports, DUP officials said yesterday that "talks haven't proceeded in a way that DUP would have expected", adding that the party's support "can't be taken for granted".

Ken Starr warns Trump against firing Mueller
Ruddy told ABC News that he stands by his comments that the president is considering asking Rosenstein to terminate Mueller. The Newsmax head also slammed the White House communications team's response to his statement, calling it "amateur hour".

Her plans will need the support of Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), which is expected to use its 10 votes to back her in exchange for more funding to the province, policies geared towards boosting its economy and assurances that Brexit will not cut it off from the neighbouring Irish Republic.
