WhatsApp hits 1bn daily users; Stories feature used by 250mn everyday



Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp has announced that one billion users are now using the app on a daily basis.

At F8 last April Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said messages sent on Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp combined totaled 60 billion per day. Now it has 1 billion active users per day.

WhatsApp has just announced that it now has 1 billion daily active users.

In an 840-word statement posted on its SeaWorldCares site, the Orlando-based company said Kyara was being treated for an infection.

In the 17 months since, that figure has surged significantly, with the same number of users now active daily, and 300m users added to the monthly tally.

WhatsApp, the widely popular messaging app across the world, has achieved another super duper milestone.

"Whether it's sharing personalized photos and videos, connecting through video calling, or keeping friends updated throughout the day with Status, communicating on WhatsApp has never been easier or more personal", WhatsApp said in a blog. I think it'll be hard to do that without getting major backlash from the users as WhatsApp has built a brand around not putting ads in the app.

WhatsApp is supposed to roll out services, which could allow businesses like banks, airlines, etc to interact directly with the customers on the messaging platform.

Facebook owned WhatsApp is now enjoying the success of tremendous growth in their users base globally.

Status is WhatsApp's version of Instagram Stories - which is coincidentally a copy of Snapchat's Stories feature - allowing users to post pictures and video for their contacts to see.
