The Washington Post on Monday night added another piece to the obstruction puzzle that special counsel Robert Mueller's team is trying to put together, reporting that President Donald Trump had personally dictated a deeply misleading statement that went out to the press under his eldest son's name and obscured the true objective of Donald Trump, Jr.'s June 2016 meeting with a Kremlin-linked lawyer.

As The New York Times prepared a story revealing that the meeting in June 2016 had taken place, White House advisers allegedly planned for Mr Trump Jr to release a statement fully explaining the circumstances.

According to the Post's reporting, Trump Jr.'s misleading response, was the work of the president himself.

In the days after July 8 this year, Donald Trump Jr. provided multiple, varying accounts of his meeting with the Russians, and eventually acknowledged having received emails from a Russian source who promised him damning information about Hillary Clinton during his father's 2016 presidential campaign. After the Times obtained an email chain showing an acquaintance, Rob Goldstone, offered Trump Jr. a meeting where he could obtain information as part of a Russian government effort to help his father's campaign, Trump Jr.

European states bid to host UK-based EU bodies
He said that the Government is confident that the Irish bid to host the EMA "fully meets all the stated criteria". According to a statement from the European Commission , Hungary did not submit a bid for the two institutions.

There are now so many inquiries, "it's become genuinely hard to keep up with all the different government investigations related to his presidential campaign's ties to Russian Federation and its attempts to sway the 2016 election", Vox reports.

The Post said advisers worry that the extent of Trump's direct involvement in his son's response could put the president - already under fire for other efforts to undermine the Russian Federation probe - and key advisers in legal jeopardy. The initial statement later appeared to be misleading at best as more information about the meeting came out. The Russian attorney reportedly has ties to the Russian government.

A lawyer for the president issued the Washington Post with a curt statement: "Apart from being of no effect, the characterizations are misinformed, inaccurate, and not pertinent", Jay Sekulow said. Similarly, Trump Jr.'s lawyer Alan Futerfas said, "I have no evidence to support that theory" regarding Trump dictating the statement.

It still remains quite unlikely that Trump will get impeached. It was disclosed to the proper parties, which is how the New York Times found out about it to begin with.

U.S. officials are visiting small nation to ease tension with Russian Federation
There are around 1,200 staff members working at these missions, though it is not clear how many are United States citizens. For an administration that has been sending mixed messages on Russia , Mr Pence tried to set the record straight.

Mr Trump was in NY when he made the controversial comments last week, advising police officers, "Please don't be too nice", when arresting alleged criminals.

A senior adviser said: "Now someone can claim he's the one who attempted to mislead". Nor was he alone - Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and former campaign manager Paul Manafort were also present.

Even if misdirecting the media isn't a crime, the Post points out that it's enough to encourage special counsel Robert Mueller to take a closer look. And he knew, at least according to fired FBI Director James Comey, that when the two men last spoke, Comey told Trump he was not personally under investigation.
