The feature, from production company Escape Artists, will explore the life and love story of the United States actress/comedienne, during her 20-year marriage to Cuban bandleader Desi Arnaz, with whom she eloped in 1940.

It's unclear if any of it will be filmed in Ball's hometown of Celeron, N.Y., which famously replaced a "Scary Lucy" statue with a more flattering likeness last year and celebrates her birthday every year at the Lucy Desi Museum & Center for Comedy in nearby Jamestown. Blanchett has won Oscars for The Aviator and Blue Jasmine.
